When the internet was developed, the founding fathers of internet hardly had any inclination that internet could also be misused for criminal activities. Today there are many disturbing things happening in cyberspace. Cyber crimes refer to all the activities done with criminal intent in cyberspace. As per NCRB data cyber crimes are on increase in Madhya Pradesh. To take the cognizance of growing menace in cyberspace state level Cyber cell had been established at police head quarters, Bhopal to deal with information technology related offences involving frauds and money laundering. State cyber cell has evolved into Madhya Pradesh Police.

ROLES OF Madhya Pradesh Cyber Police
· Provide a national coordinated approach to combating and investigate

   serious, complex and multi-jurisdictional technology enabled crimes,

   especially those beyond the capability of single jurisdictions.
· Assist in improving the capacity of all jurisdictions to deal with technology

   enabled crime.
· Collect information about cyber crime occurring all over state and generate

   intelligence.
· Impart training to the policeman about cyber crime and their investigation.
· Monitor the investigation of cyber crime by different units and assisting

   them in their investigation and at time to time take progress report about

   the same.



HOW CAN CASE BE TAKEN FOR INVESTIGATION BY Madhya Pradesh Cyber Police – Gazette Of Police (Madhya Pradesh) 32/84 clearly states that an enquiry or investigation will be taken over by CID only on the recommendation of DIG or IGP CID. at present MP Cyber Police derives power from CID at present. Hence an enquiry or investigation is taken over by M.P. Cyber Police , Bhopal only under the orders of DIG or IGP MP Cyber Police PHQ, Bhopal.
